UGC NET Economics Eligibility Criteria 2026
Before you begin your preparation, ensure you meet the official NTA guidelines for UGC NET Economics eligibility:
Educational Qualifications
- General/Unreserved Candidates: Must have secured at least 55% marks (without rounding off) in their Master’s Degree (M.A. or M.Sc. in Economics) from a recognized university.
- Reserved Categories (OBC-NCL, SC, ST, PWD, Transgender): A relaxation of 5% is provided, requiring a minimum of 50% marks in their Master's degree.
- Note: Candidates who are in the final year of their Master's program or whose results are awaited are also eligible to apply provisionally.
Age Limit (As of 2026 Guidelines):
- For JRF (Junior Research Fellowship): The upper age limit is generally 30 years. A relaxation of up to 5 years is provided for candidates belonging to OBC-NCL, SC, ST, PWD, Transgender categories, and women applicants.
- For Assistant Professor: There is no upper age limit to apply for the Assistant Professor role.
